Gilcrest Laces Up For Charity Football Tournament

Posted: March 18th, 2024

How did we get involved?

Gilcrest first got involved with the Business Fives charity football tournament after our Managing Director, Sarah Fowke, received an invitation to participate. Business Fives is a corporate charity events company specialising in football, golf and e-sports events. With a corporate ethos that encourages charitable activities, and an office full of “highly skilled” athletes, we jumped at the chance to get involved.

Which charity and why?

After deciding to participate, we had to come together to decide which charitable organisation we wanted to raise money for. After some deliberation, we decided that given the physical nature of the business fives organisation, it would be a holistic approach to raise funds for an organisation that addresses mental health. CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is leading a movement against suicide, offering free and confidential helpline and webchat, facilitating supportive spaces in workplaces, universities, pubs, etc. across the country, and campaigning to raise awareness about these issues.

What was the experience like?

After donning their custom, regal, Gilcrest purple football kits, team Goal-Crest set out for the Business Fives tournament. While our team didn’t win the tournament, they were able to secure a victory (despite an injury) and gave 100% over the course of five matches. As well as their mild success in the tournament, Gilcrest was able to raise 100% of our fundraising goal for CALM and contribute to a good cause.
